Summer Lucille is the owner of a plus-size dress shop who has personally experienced the challenges of finding a prom dress that suits her body and fits her budget.
To Today.com, Lucille shared how she felt when she was younger: “If you weren’t thin, there weren’t many options, and that was devastating to me because I’ve always loved fashion.” She reminisced, “I went to prom looking like a church lady in a suit and jacket because it was the only thing that fit. It was a very sad time in my life.”

However, she used her own teenage experience to open Juicy Body Goddess, her plus-size dress shop that offers formal dresses, all created by Lucille herself. Her business took off when she began posting on TikTok the joy of her customers trying on various clothing styles.
It was through social media that Elyse Monroe discovered the shop; her enthusiasm was so great that Monroe and her family drove nearly six hours for a visit, determined to find the perfect dress. Lucille shared with People magazine that Monroe was initially “nervous and shy,” but after trying on a bright purple and snug dress, everything changed: “When she put on that purple dress, she lit up.”
There was only one problem, Monroe couldn’t afford the dress that had enchanted her so much; it was nearly double her budget. In the video posted by Lucille, we see the Monroe family asking how much the dress would cost. Lucille can be heard in the background saying, “This dress costs $700 (over $3,550)… but it’s free.”
Yes, as you can probably imagine, this left the teenager and her family in shock. Lucille’s act of kindness went viral and inspired others to perform a good deed. According to the store owner, after her post, many people reached out to buy a gift card to be given to another girl in need of some help in fulfilling the dream of a beautiful prom dress.
